Peaceful but
serious protests in Thailand are one of the greatest activism movements in Asia
in 21st century. Shouts and movements that protestors revealed in
several periods of protests demonstrated drawbacks and problems that are not
only in Thailand political system, which is constitutional monarchy, but also political
systems in countries in Asia, which “democratic” countries suppress rights of
communication of people and media. Also, except few countries in Asia, most of
citizens in their Asian countries think democracy is utterly corrupted because
the system gives more opportunities to people who are wealthier and more
powerful.
Thailand is much more unique than other Asian countries; the country has unique political system called constitutional monarchy in its country, and the monarch has power in its politics and its media. Rather than cases in other countries, analyzing situations in Thailand will give new insights in not only politics but also rights of people and freedom of media in the country.
